Accent: Be Cellulite Free

Castor blog

Cellulite is stubborn and tricky! Seemingly impossible to get rid of—many patients come to us desiring a way to treat and subdue the appearance of cellulite. At Artisan Aesthetic Plastic Surgery & Laser Center, we understand the frustration that goes along with cellulite. Fortunately for you, Dr. Castor proudly offers Accent, a body contouring treatment that targets cellulite.
But first, let us help you understand what cellulite is and why it is so difficult to target:

What is cellulite?
Simply put, cellulite is nothing more than fat deposits trapped within the skin. Cellulite occurs as underlying fat deposits begin to push against connective tissues, causing the skin above to pucker and appear lumpy. Many describe this as the “orange peel effect”. Although not harmful to one’s health—cellulite is not aesthetically pleasing. Cellulite is most often seen on the hips, thighs, buttocks, and abdomen. A common problem, 90% of women and 10% of men will struggle with cellulite at some point in their life.
There are two types of cellulite: hard and soft. The less visible of the two, hard cellulite is more concentrated and closer to the muscle. Soft cellulite exists between the skin and fibrous septae (connective tissues)—located closer to the skin’s surface, soft cellulite is far more visible.

What causes cellulite?
Cellulite does not mean you are overweight or unhealthy. Cellulite develops as connective tissues are broken down by various factors including:
• Poor Diet: Especially diets rich in fat, carbohydrates, and salt but too little fiber
• Hormonal Factors and Changes
• Lack of Exercise or Prolonged Periods of Inactivity
• Genetics: Chances are, if your mother or grandmother struggled with cellulite—so will you
• Lifestyle Choices: For example, smoking

It is worth noting: cellulite is more prevalent in heavier individuals. More fat increases your odds of developing cellulite. The more fat one has, the more likely it is to put stress on the connective tissues, creating weak spots in which cellulite ‘bulges-out’.

How to get rid of cellulite?
While a balanced diet, proper exercise, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help with cellulite—it is not always enough. Accent is a non-surgical laser treatment that uses unique radio frequency thermotherapy to stimulate your body’s collagen production—non-invasively reducing the appearance of cellulite. By tightening, smoothing, and firming loose skin, Accent gives your body an overall toned and youthful appeal.
As a versatile treatment, Accent treats cellulite prone areas while also being able to treat more delicate areas such as aging skin around the face, neck, and upper arms. The majority of Accent treatments last less than 45 minutes. Most patients find Accent to be nearly painless, some even saying the treatment feels like warm massage. With no downtime, you are free to leave our office and return to your day.
