A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is the most effective and long-lasting method of dealing with facial aging. It reverses the effects of time and gravity by elevating the skin, tissue, and muscles on the face and neck. Facelift surgery can correct nearly any age-related concern you may have, including sagging and wrinkles.

Dr. Stan Castor is a board-certified plastic surgeon known for creating natural-looking facelift results.

Reasons To Consider A Facelift

While non-surgical anti-aging solutions are beneficial, they cannot achieve the same results as a surgical facelift. Over a hundred thousand people undergo this surgery each year to accomplish goals such as:

  • Lifting and tightening loose, sagging skin
  • Smoothing the folds between the nose and mouth
  • Reducing jowls that may obscure the jawline
  • Correcting the appearance of a double chin
  • Improving self-esteem and confidence

Keep in mind that a facelift won’t give you a completely different appearance or prevent future aging. It is often said that this facial surgery resets the aging process but doesn’t stop it.

Ideal Facelift Candidates

If you want to significantly improve visible signs of facial aging, you are likely a good candidate for a facelift. Facelift surgery is most frequently performed on men and women age 55 and older, though a large number of people undergo the procedure sometime in their 40s. If you have noticed that your skincare products and non-surgical treatments are not very effective anymore, it may be time to schedule a facelift consultation.

Other signs that you are a good facelift candidate include:

  • You are generally healthy and free from medical conditions that impair healing
  • You don’t smoke or are willing to quit before and after surgery
  • You have realistic expectations for what facelift surgery can achieve

Your Customized Facelift Procedure

There are several facelift methods. The right option for you depends on the nature of your concerns and the degree of change you want to see. Regardless of the type of facelift you and Dr. Castor choose, you can plan on having your procedure performed in our onsite state-accredited office surgical suite.

A traditional facelift offers the most comprehensive rejuvenation and begins with an incision starting near the temples and ending in the lower scalp. Dr. Castor may then sculpt the facial fat, reposition underlying tissue, and lift the muscles before redraping the skin for a youthful, uplifted result.

A limited incision facelift, also called a mini-lift, involves a shorter incision and may be appropriate if you have less skin relaxation. For patients looking to improve an aging neck, Dr. Castor may also tighten the vertical neck muscle and reposition skin and tissue below the chin. Once healed, the incisions are nearly invisible since they are within your hairline and facial contours.

Recovering From A Facelift

Following your facelift, you will return home to rest. Our staff will provide you with specific aftercare instructions that you need to follow for a safe recovery and optimal results. These instructions cover activity restrictions, medications to take or apply, and when to return for your follow up appointment.

Most people resume social activities and return to work 10 to 14 days after surgery. It may take several months to see your final results due to residual facial swelling. Facelift results are thought to last 10 years or more, especially if you use sun protection and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
